Children's Religious Education

Preschool-Grade 6

Welcome to Our Lady of Mount Carmel’s Faith Formation program!
We are very happy that you and your family are a part of our family.

Special Message from the Director

We are now opened for Mass but are limited to 340 people in the building. As such, and after a great deal of prayer, we have had to change RE for most of our students. One of the main draws to our religious education program, the direct connection to the Mass, has had to change. While our plan is still under development and waiting for final approval from the Diocese, please know that the changes made were to ensure the safety and health of all participants.

We will still be offering Mass time Catechesis for Pre-school, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grades. We felt that full participation in the Mass was necessary for those preparing for First Holy Communion. Due to the limited numbers allowed in the building, 1st and 2nd grades will be allowed 12 students per session, while Pre-School and Kindergarten will be allowed 6 per session. One issue will be that families registered for these sessions will need to register for Mass as well.

For families with students in 3-8 grades, we will offer two weekday evenings, with two sessions each day: Monday and Tuesday evenings from 5-6 pm or 7-8 pm. We will be limiting the number of students in each session to 10 (grades 3-6) and 18 (grades 7-8), pending Diocesan approval.

We will also offer Remote Learning through "Our Sunday Visitor's" Alive in Christ series and "Pflaum Gospel Weeklies-Seeds. We will also have updated, grade level pages on this website (see For Families).

In addition to these choices, we will still offer our Family Faith sessions once a month for families with students in preschool through sixth grade. We will limit each night to 6-12 families so we can maintain social distancing requirements.

We will need extra help throughout this, so we hope any parent who has a child signed up for a classroom session, will be willing to help in some way. We will need catechists, aides, hall monitors, check in staff, parking lot attendants, and office aides, but these helpers must be up to date with Safe Environment policies including Protecting God's Children.

We thank you for being part of our program no matter how you are involved! Remember Parents are the primary teachers and transmitters of the faith, so you can do this! We will make it as easy as we can during this time, and we are sorry for any inconvenience the new program brings to you.

When it is safe, we will resume our regular schedule! Thank you for all you do for your children, and may God bless you, keeping you healthy and sane during this time of crisis.
