From the President Dear Members, The gifts have been opened, the cards read, tears of laughter, joy and sorrow all silent .   Memories of days gone by fill our minds and comfort us, and the clock struck twelve and a new year is upon us .   What is your quest?   We all have an impossible dream! One dream that is not impossible is the gift from God , that of eternal life!   Isn’t it wonderful to know that we will see our loved ones and friends one day, hopefully not too soon!!   There are so many people without faith, as we have witnessed more this year than ever .   We are so privileged to believe in the birth of Jesus Christ, our savior and to live in a country where we can practice that freedom .   Our world is becoming more paganistic and each one of us must show our faith as a badge of honor and as an example to others to help them on their journey .   One way is through our grandchildren .   They are living in a world that does not rep - resent the values we were given as children and they are so impressionable .   Many times, I hear jokes about the nuns, but I thank God for the twelve years I spent with them .   Please stand up for them they gave their entire lives for us . Many of us are without our partners and the holidays (Christmas) some - how exacerbates that .   We need reach out to the lonely with a smile or call, a cup of tea, a hug or the holding of a hand .   We all need to be loved, as our Lord said, “to love one another .   While in the U . S . Mother Teresa said, “that the greatest poverty here is the loneliness .   How many sick and elderly persons rarely or infrequently have a relative pay a visit to them ... not too many, I’m afraid .   We are the elderly!    When making your New Year’s resolutions, perhaps you might include some of these ideas .   I know we all do, but maybe we could try a little harder .   We all know what loneliness is and tha
